THE WPSL'S 23rd SEASON OPENS TODAY

The 2021 WPSL Season officially kicks off this weekend as 10 teams take the field to get the league's 23rd season underway.

Today's Season Opener features the Southern Division of the Carolinas Conference as Independence Central returns for their third WPSL season to host the Charlotte Eagles, who entered the league in 2019.

Independence Central has an overall 11-4-2 record after their previous two seasons and Charlotte finished their inaugural season undefeated at home with a 7-0-1, securing the regular-season conference title.

Saturday features a double-header with matchups in the Southeast Conference and the North Division of the Metropolitan Conference.

The league saw a record number of expansion teams this offseason, prodomiently in the East Region - which saw the most growth with 16 expansion teams. In the first matchup, newcomer, Fox Soccer Academy will host the Rhode Island Rogues, who gear up for their third WPSL season.

The second matchup of the day comes out of the Southeast Conference with the WPSL Veterans, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, traveling to Huntsville, AL to face North Alabama SC, who also look to cap their third WPSL season. Chattanooga enters the 2021 Season after coming off back-to-back Southeast Conference Titles and WPSL Playoff appearances in 2019 and 2018 seasons.

The Colonial and Midwestern Conferences round out the opening weekend with an additional double-header for Soccer Sunday.

Newcomer, SJEB FC travels to the D.C. metro to face off against Old Dominion Cesena USA to kick of the Colonial Conference. In match two newcomer, Lady Victory FC, will host the Columbus Eagles, who are set to play their seventh WPSL season.
