The final weeks of preparation are in place for clubs in the Central Region.
Clubs are battling for a spot in the playoffs with two conferences up for grabs. Although the North Conference is held by the Chicago Red Stars Reserves and FC Dallas Women owns the Southwest Conference, the Heartland and South Texas conferences are open.
South Texas Conference Match of the Week: Lonestar SC vs. TTI Bluebonnets
The South Texas Conference is a tight race. AHFC Royals hold first place with 15 points. However, sitting with 12 points are TTI: Bluebonnets and Lonestar SC. AHFC Royals should earn a victory over the San Antonio Blossoms but, should the club fail in the endeavor, it’s up to TTI: Bluebonnets and Lonestar SC to take control of the conference.
TTI: Bluebonnets host Lonestar SC at the San Jacinto Community College field. The match will be held on Saturday at 7 p.m. CDT.
At the same time, AHFC Royals take on San Antonio Blossoms at Blossom Athletic Center.
Heartland Conference Match of the Week: Fire & Ice SC vs. St. Louis Lions
This match is crucial for Fire & Ice SC.
If the reigning WPSL champions want to punch its ticket to the playoffs, a victory over St. Louis is a must. St. Louis isn’t a team to be taken lightly; in the club’s first WPSL season, St. Louis FC has compiled a 2-1-3 record. Fire & Ice SC have yet to lose a match this season, claiming four victories and one tie. Right now, Fire & Ice SC lead the Heartland Conference with 13 points.
The match will be held on Friday at Tony Galvin Soccer Complex at 6 p.m. CDT.
North Conference Match of the Week: Dakota Fusion FC vs. Chicago City SC
While neither club can catch up to Chicago Red Stars Reserves for a playoff spot, it’s all about fighting for pride. Dakota Fusion FC earned its first WPSL point in the club’s history against the Minnesota TwinStars last week. Now the team has a fighting chance to earn its first victory against Chicago City SC.
Dakota Fusion FC hosts Chicago City SC at Jim Gotta Stadium at Moorhead High School at 7 p.m. CDT.
Southwest Conference Match of the Week: Fortuna Tulsa vs. Oklahoma City FC
Neither team has a chance to catch up with FC Dallas, but it’s a fight for table status with Fortuna Tulsa and Oklahoma City FC. Monday's match will bring Fortuna Tulsa to Norman, Oklahoma to face off. The last time the two sides met up, Oklahoma City FC narrowly edged out a 1-0 victory. Addyson Guthrie scored the game-winning goal for Oklahoma City FC.
