OKLAHOMA CITY – The Women’s Premier Soccer League has announced the schedule for the Midwestern Conference today for the upcoming 2021 season. The Midwestern Conference, formerly known as the Midwest Conference, was realigned from the East Region after the Central’s Heartland Conference disbanded which resulted in the move of the WPSL’s two St. Louis teams to compete with teams originally from the East Region.

The Midwestern Conference consists of three teams out of southern Ohio, two teams out of Indianapolis, and two teams out of St. Louis. The conference is represented by Cincinnati Sirens FC, Columbus Eagles FC, Dayton Dutch Lions FC, FC Pride, Fire & Ice SA, Lady Victory FC, and St Louis Lions.

The conference features predominately veteran teams with the addition of Lady Victory FC (Indianapolis), who entered the league as a 2021 expansion team. St. Louis Lions will enter its third season in the league with Cincinnati Sirens FC suiting up for it's fifth season. Dayton Dutch Lions FC won its conference in its first season with the league in 2016 before falling in the WPSL Regionals and is most notable for having USWNT standout, Rose Lavelle, as a player that season. FC Pride and Columbus Eagles FC both entered the league in 2014 making this their seventh WPSL season.

Fire & Ice SA will play its eighth season with the WPSL and holds an overall record of 47-11-7 while outscoring opponents 172/59. They have made four WPSL Playoff appearances and won the WPSL Championship in 2017 after an undefeated 11-0 record, outscoring opponents 38/5. Fire and Ice SA head coach, Lindsay Eversmeyer, won Coach of the Year for the Heartland Conference in the 2019 season.

“I’m most looking forward to simply being together again. Our team environment has always felt more like family and we all genuinely like being around each other,” Eversmeyer said. “Of course, I am also excited about seeing our players back on the field, but this year is mainly about rebuilding and learning to play together as a team after so much time off, as well as, with the new faces we will be adding!”

The conference will play an unbalanced schedule between 10-12 games per team, splitting between home and away matches. The schedule will feature a total of 39 matches beginning mid-May and run through mid-July.

The first match will feature league newcomers, Lady Victory FC hosting Columbus Eagles FC on May 16th.
