THE WPSL REVEALS THE 2021 SCHEDULE FOR THE OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE

The First Match of the Season Will Kick-Off on May 22nd

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Women’s Premier Soccer League has announced the schedule for the Ohio Valley Conference today for the upcoming 2021 season. The East Region saw the most growth in the offseason with the addition of new expansion teams for the upcoming season. Four of the seven teams in this conference are part of the 2021 expansion-team class.

The Ohio Valley Conference will feature teams out of the Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, and Pittsburgh areas. The conference will be represented by Ambassadors Cleveland, Century United (Pittsburgh), Cleveland Ambassadors, Croatia Juniors (Cleveland), FC Berlin, (Buffalo), Motor City FC (Detroit), and Pittsburgh Hotspurs FC.

Motor City FC joined the league in 2014 and will take the field for their seventh WPSL season. In their previous six seasons, Motor City FC has a combined record of 48-8-7 while outscoring opponents 209/40. They have finished first in regular-season conference standings three times and have made four playoff appearances. In 2019, Motor City FC went undefeated with a 9-0-1 record and made it to the semifinals of the WPSL Championship.

The Cleveland Ambassadors joined the league in 2017 and set out for their fourth WPSL season. In just three seasons they have outscored opponents 102/26 with a combined recorded of 20-3-3. Their season-best came during the 2018 season where they finished undefeated with a 7-0-1 recorded and made it to the WPSL Regional Championship. For the 2021 season, the Ambassadors will field a second WPSL team who will be known as Ambassadors Cleveland.

Pittsburgh Hotspurs FC joined the league in 2018 as Steel City FC and this will be their first season under the new branding.

Between Motor City FC, Cleveland Ambassadors, and Pittsburg Hotspurs FC, eight former players are currently on National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) rosters:

The Ohio Valley Conference will feature four expansion teams to the 2021 expansion-team class, Ambassadors Cleveland, Century United, Croatia Juniors, and FC Berlin.


The schedule will consist of 28 matches with each team playing four matches home and away. The first match of the season will feature Century United hosting Ambassadors Cleveland on May 22nd. Pittsburgh Hotspurs FC will open their schedule at home on May 23rd as they take on the Cleveland Ambassadors. Croatia Juniors will open on the road against Pittsburgh Hotspurs FC on June 5th. Motor City FC and FC Berlin will face off in their season opener on June 5th.
