The FC Pride WPSL team put on a solid display on the opening night of the season.  Goals from Paige Miller (2), Lizzie Chlystun (2), Gretchen Mallin and Maddy Bellaver gave the hosts a convincing win.

Miller opened the scoring in the 13th minute, beating the Dayton goalkeeper to the ball and heading in from close range.  Shortly after, Chlystun added the second after good pressing from Miller who intercepted a pass from the Dayton goalkeeper.

Maddy Bellaver scored a free kick just before halftime to make it 3-0.  Ten minutes into the second half Chlystun added her second of the match from close range after a good build-up play on the right.  Gretchen Mallin, who was very impressive throughout the match quickly made it 5-0 before Miller scored the 6th goal of the night by rounding the goalkeeper to close out the scoring.

After the game FC Pride head coach, Jamie Gilbert said, "It is always nice to get the season off to a winning start.  We played well in stages but we can definitely get better.  As the season continues we will get more rhythm to our passing and our spacing will naturally improve.  As the game went on we got more comfortable on the ball and we were more controlled in our play, which was definitely the message at half time"

When asked who he thought impressed tonight, Gilbert added "Paige and Lizzie both scored twice and scored for us at important times in the game.  Gretchen Mallin was tremendous out wide and Mary McArdle had an outstanding impact coming into the game as an early substitute"

FC Pride host the Cincinnati Sirens next Friday at 7 pm.
