THE WPSL EXPANDS ITS FOOTPRINT IN THE SUNSHINE STATE WITH NEWEST ADDITION TO ITS 2023 MEMBERSHIP

NORTH PORT, Fla. (June 15, 2022) – The Women’s Premier Soccer League announced today, Fusion FC will join the league for the 2023 season. With the announcement, Fusion FC becomes the WPSL’s second 2023 expansion team – expanding its footprint in the Sunshine state.
 

“We are looking forward to this new venture for our players. Our board felt that the WPSL offered a unique opportunity to bring elite-level soccer to the women of Southwest Florida,” Jeannie Brooks, North Port Youth Soccer and Fusion FC President, said.
 

Founded in 1995, Fusion FC, an entity of North Port Youth Soccer, has been in continuous operation in Southwest Florida for nearly three decades. The club currently offers recreational and competitive programs for players as young as six through 19 years old. Between the two programs, Fusion FC operates with over 700 athletes and 150 coaches.
 

Fusion FC’s mission is to provide opportunities for training and play for all those interested in soccer in the North Port area. By designing programs to cater to developing individual skills, fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship, the club offers support to the physical, mental, and emotional development of its youth. Fusion FC is committed to promoting, fostering, and perpetuating the growth of soccer in its community.
 

The club has announced its current Director of Coaching, Sergiy Opryshco, will serve as its head coach for the 2023 WPSL season. The club plans to bring on two assistant coaches under Opryscho’s leadership and fill supplemental technical staff from existing coaches in its competitive program.
