SOCAL REDS FC TO COMPETE IN COASTAL DIVISION OF WPSL’S SO CAL CONFERENCE FOR 2023 SEASON

IRVINE, Calif. (March 27, 2023) - The Women’s Premier Soccer League confirmed today that SoCal Reds FC is set to compete this summer for the league’s 25th season. With the announcement, SoCal Red FC has been aligned in the So Cal Conference within the Coastal Division alongside five other Southern California teams including fellow 2023 expansion side, Rebels Empire.
 

“I am ecstatic [about joining the WPSL],” Tom Lancaster, SoCal Reds FC head coach, said. “From May till July we will bring top-level women’s soccer to Irvine [and] we have a great group of players coming in who will inspire local youth players and soccer fans.”
 

Heading into the 2023 season, the club is focused on maintaining its unique culture that represents the experience of playing soccer in Southern California. For SoCal Reds FC CEO, Tim Woodcock, the club’s goal has always been “to create a fun and competitive environment for female athletes to grow within the game.”
 

The club will open its 2023 campaign on the road as it takes on Elite Development Academy on May 21 before welcoming FC Premier Women on May 28 in its home opener. The top team in the Coastal Division will host the winner of the conference’s Plymouth Division in the So Cal Conference Championship on July 8 with the winner advancing to the West Region Playoffs.
