FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OKLAHOMA CITY (April 4, 2023) - The Women’s Premier Soccer League announced today its new partnership with ZENA Sport ahead of its historic 25th anniversary season. The Australian-based company is a gender-specific protective wear brand that focuses on female protection in contact sports.
“The WPSL has been fortunate to have another opportunity to partner with a company that is catering directly to female soccer players in an effort to provide an overall better, and safer, playing experience,” DeBray Ayala, WPSL vice president, said. “We look forward to a long-term partnership with ZENA Sport and are excited to help introduce them to the U.S. women’s soccer market.”
Launched in 2017, Brad and Donna Johnson founded ZENA Sport after identifying the market gap in women’s protective wear during the Australian Football League for Women’s (AFLW) inaugural season. In its four years, ZENA Sport has developed a female breast and rib protection vest alongside medical experts and the Australian Sports Technologies Network.
The Zena Z1 vest has been specifically designed for women’s contact sports and has been proven through research conducted by Deakin University to significantly reduce impact across the upper torso.
“We are extremely excited to partner with the WPSL,” Brad Johnson, ZENA Sport co-founder, said. “It’s an opportunity to share our passion for women’s soccer and to showcase our vests that have been specifically designed for the female athlete.
