THE WPSL RETURNS TO BOSTON WITH LATEST
EXPANSION SET TO COMPETE IN 2024


 

BOSTON (Sept. 28, 2023) – The Women’s Premier Soccer League announced today that Merrimack Valley Hawks FC has joined the league with its inaugural season set for next summer. With the announcement, Merrimack Valley become the first team from the Boston-metro to compete in the WPSL since 2017.
 

“Today is an incredibly exciting day for the Women's Premier Soccer League as we welcome a dynamic new team to the Boston area,” Kendra Halterman, WPSL Commissioner, said. “This addition marks a significant milestone in our league's expansion efforts, and we couldn't be more thrilled to have a team representing one of the most passionate soccer communities in the country.”
 

The 2024 WPSL season will also be the club’s inaugural season as a newly formed organization built on the movement to unify its community and the further expanding women’s soccer scene in the Greater Boston area with the goal of putting Merrimack Valley on the soccer map.
 

“Joining the WPSL for the 2024 season will provide MV Hawks FC with the opportunity to compete in a high-level, competitive environment that will help foster player development and growth,” Joel Deleon, Merrimack Valley Hawks FC managing partner, said. “The league has an excellent reputation with its teams and fans and provides an excellent platform for players to showcase their talent and gain valuable experience.”
