SECOND NORTH CAROLINA-BASED EXPANSION
JOINS THE WPSL FOR THE 2024 SEASON

RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 11, 2024) – The Women’s Premier Soccer League confirms the entry of Trinity Fire W as its latest expansion side set to play this summer.

“We believe that the WPSL has been the pinnacle platform for advancing player development in the United States at the amateur level,” Sean O’Connor, Trinity Soccer Academy president.

“We are thrilled to be able to combine forces with the WPSL in order to provide a true pathway to higher levels of the game for our female athletes.”

Trinity Soccer Academy is the only faith-based North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA) member east of Charlotte. The club is committed to the promotion and development of its youth through their participation in soccer. Additionally, Trinity promotes ethical and moral behavior, good sportsmanship, community involvement, good citizenship, and Christian values.

“The mission of joining the WPSL is for Trinity to be able to create a pathway from youth soccer for our female players all the way to WPSL and to give our college players the ability to play at a very high level in the summer,” O’Connor said.

For its inaugural season, Trinity Fire W will be led by Lynn Adams as head coach, who brings over 15 years of coaching experience at club and high school levels, with Steve Barry serving as her assistant.

"WPSL has played an integral part in the development of women’s soccer here in the U.S.,” Adams said.

“It is an honor to be a part of the league and give players an avenue to the next level.”

Official 2024 alignment and schedules will be released by the League office in the coming months.
