MIAMI CLUB DRIVEN TO CREATE A SAFE AND INCLUSIVE SPACE FOR THE WOMEN’S GAME WILL COMPETE IN THE 2024 WPSL SEASON

MIAMI (Jan. 22, 2024) – The Women’s Premier Soccer League awards expansion to Miami side, AGC Football, who will make its league debut this summer for the 2024 season.

"Joining the WPSL marks a pivotal moment for AGC Football, propelling us into the heart of women's soccer excellence,” Valentina Simon De Ferrari, AGC Football founder and president, said.

“This decision is not just about competition; it's a defining leap forward for women's soccer in Miami.”

Simon De Ferrari established AGC Football in 2014 after an unexpected injury redirected her athletic pursuits. The Uruguay native, who was initially immersed in field hockey, infuses the Miami women’s soccer scene with unmatched passion and champions a community-focused approach to create avenues for women to pursue professional soccer careers while fostering a profound sense of belonging.

AGC Football was founded on a vision to create a safe and inclusive space for women in the sport that fills a void within the Miami community. The club’s commitment extends to ensuring that all women, regardless of skill level, have the opportunity to compete and train. In addition to its advanced teams, AGC Primera and AGC Reserva, the club has also structured intermediate teams that cater to various skill levels from beginners to seasoned players.

For its inaugural season, AGC Football has named Mariano Trovato as its head coach. With over 15 years in Argentine football, Trovato is a recognized professional in women’s soccer in Miami who trains aspiring talent and has played a significant role in the careers of players now representing the Honduran national team.

The club’s mission of joining the WPSL is grounded in AGC Football’s steadfast support for women’s soccer and athletics – community service is at the core of this mission. The club prides itself on providing a multifaceted service to its community that extends beyond the soccer field. This commitment to inclusivity, empowerment, and fostering a sense of belonging resonates through inclusive soccer programs, community-driven initiatives, women’s empowerment, cultural exchange, and accessible soccer facilities.

“AGC Football envisions this journey as a significant stride towards creating a platform where our athletes can thrive, compete at the highest level, and inspire the next generation of female athletes," Simon De Ferrari said.
