POWER RANKINGS - WEEK 3

There is a new No.1 atop the National Power Rankings, presented by SouthStar Systems, for the third straight polling. FC Dayton from the Midwest Conference moved into the top spot from 12th place last week. Previous rankings leader, the Rhode Island Rogues, dropped to the fourth spot. Nashville Rhythm F.C. moved into the No. 2 spot up from fourth, followed by this week’s biggest movers, Utah Avalanche, into the No. 3 spot from 25th. Reading United A.C., new to this week’s Top 25, debuts at the No. 9 spot. 



Here are the updated Power Rankings heading into Week 4


1. FC DAYTON (3-0-0)

   Central Region — Midwest Conference — Gateway Division

   Week 2 Rank: 12th 

FC Dayton takes over the number one spot thanks in part to a 10-goal Week 3: starting with a resounding 6-1 win on the road at F.C. Spirit followed with a 4-0 win at Dayton Dutch Lions FC. Dayton’s Peyton Kohls leads Gateway Division with four goals in three games, followed by Dani Hicks with three goals on the season. FC Dayton returns home for a doubleheader June 1 versus F.C. Spirit (0-2-0) and FC Pride (0-0-1) June 2 in the Central Region Match of the Week.

 

2. NASHVILLE RHYTHM F.C. (2-0-0)

   South Region — Southeast Conference

   Week 2 Rank: 4th 

Nashville continues to climb, up to the number 2 spot after a 4-1 road win over Chattanooga FC. Angeline Kieh had two goals, along with goals by Emma Brown and Hannah Morton in the win. Kieh leads the Southeast Conference in scoring with five goals, followed by Brown with two goals on the season. Nashville plays a Week 4 double header, away at the Georgia Impact (0-0-0) Saturday, June 1 in the South Region Match of the Week and home versus FC Birmingham (1-0-0) the following day.

 

3. UTAH AVALANCHE (3-1-0)

   Central Region — Mountain Conference — Wasatch Division

   Week 2 Rank: 25th 

The Avalanche rebounded from its first WPSL loss in Week 2 with a pair of convincing wins: 3-1 at home over Northern Utah United and 6-0 at Griffins FC. Colette Jepson Smith tallied a hat trick in her first appearance for the Avalanche in 2024. Seven Castain leads the Wasatch Division with five goals on the season. The Avalanche travel to face Northern Utah United (1-0-2) Friday, May 31.

 

4. RHODE ISLAND ROGUES (2-0-0)

   East Region — Northeastern Conference 

   Week 2 Rank: 1st 

A 4-1 win over Merrimack Valley Hawks FC was not enough to keep the Rhode Island Rogues in the number one spot this week. Hannah McNulty had three of Rhode Island’s four goals in the win after Brooke Jenkins pulled the Rogues level at 1-1. The Rogues have scored nine goals in its two matches this season, conceding only two. McNulty leads the Northeastern Conference with five goals on the season. Rhode Island travels to Clarkstown Soccer Club (1-0-0) Saturday, June 1 in the East Region Match of the Week. 

 

5. SC del SOL (2-0-0)

   West Region — Desert Conference

   Week 2 Rank: 6th 

Consecutive 3-1 road wins bumped last year’s West Region champions up one spot to the fifth spot. After topping El Paso Surf in Week 2, Sami Fisher, Grace Gillard, and Aubrie Labno tallied goals at Royals AZ to keep del Sol atop the Desert Conference table. Six different players are credited with del Sol’s six goals this season. Del Sol hosts El Paso Surf (1-0-2) at home Friday, May 31 and travels down the road to FC Tucson(1-0-0), Saturday, June 1 in the West Region Match of the Week. 


 

6. SALVO SC (1-0-0)

   Central Region — Northern Conference

   Week 2 Rank: 11th 

Salvo SC lived up to its reputation as one of the WPSL’s flagship sides, cruising past Joy AC on the road, 5-1 to open the season. Khyah Harper picked right up where she left off in 2023, earning a hattrick 22 minutes into the match. Katelyn Beulke and Emily Heslin rounded out the scoring in the win. Harper’s three goals in the club’s season opener puts her at the top of the Northern Conference goalscoring list. Salvo does not play again until a Week 5 three-game homestand starting on June 5 versus the Minnesota Thunder.

 


7. WEST FLORIDA FLAMES (2-0-0)

   South Region — Sunshine Conference

   Week 2 Rank: 14th 

Two convincing wins catapulted the West Florida Flames from No. 14 to No. 7 in Week 3. After a 3-1 home win over Seminole Ice in Week 2, the Flames traveled to Miami to take on AGC Football. Tali O’Leary, Brianne Bonzheim, Mikki Hill, and Sydney Weslowski scored in the 4-0 win. All seven of West Florida’s goals have come from different players. The Flames kick off Week 4 at home versus FC Prime on Saturday, June 1 and then travel to face Dade County Football Club the next day.

 

 

8. CLARKSTOWN SOCCER CLUB (1-0-0)

   East Region — Northeastern Conference

   Week 2 Rank: 18th 

A 4-0 win at Force FC New York midweek helped push Clarkstown Soccer Club back into the Top 10. Maggie Haskell opened scoring for Clarkstown, and Kelly Brady bookended a second-half goal by Ava Giudice in the 4-0 win. Clarkston’s home opener is Saturday, June 1 versus the No. 4 Rhode Island Rogues (2-0-0) in a match that could help determine the eventual conference winner. 


 

9. READING UNITED A.C. (2-0-0)

   East Region — Mid-Atlantic Conference — Commonwealth Division 

   Week 2 Rank: Unranked 

Wins over Hershey FC and LVU Rush propelled Reading United A.C. into the Top 10 for the first time in 2024. Ashley Lavrich, Haley Gschrey, Molly Kuhn scored in 3-1 win at Hershey FC to open the season. In Reading’s home opener four days later, Lavrich tallied a brace and Grshrey, Rebecca Kotula, and Natalee Vicari added goals in the 5-1 win. Lavrich leads the Commonwealth Division in scoring with three goals, followed by Gschrey with two. Reading faces the untested HEX FC Tempest (0-0-0) Friday, May 31.

 

 

10. PA CLASSICS (1-0-0)

   East Region — Mid-Atlantic Conference — Commonwealth Division 

   Week 2 Rank: 2nd

A bye week pushed PA Classics from No. 2 to No. 10 after a characteristic 4-1 win at Keystone FC in Week 2. Jailene DeJesus, Lindsey Husic, Aubrey Strohecker, and Liza Suydam all scored to put the Classics at the top of the Commonwealth Division table. The club is in action again Wednesday, May 29 hosting Hershey FC (0-1-0).

 

 

11. AMBASSADORS CLEVELAND (1-0-0)

    East Region — Great Lakes Conference — Great River Division 

    Week 2 Rank: 7th

 

12. CHARLOTTE EAGLES (1-0-0)

    South Region — Atlantic Conference — Carolinas Division

    Week 2 Rank: 8thth

 

13. KC Courage (2-0-0)

    Central Region — Heartland Conference

    Week 2 Rank: 9th 

 

14. Minnesota Thunder (1-0-0)

    Central Region — Northern Conference
