FC PRIDE FACES UNDEFEATED SIOUX FALLS CITY IN FIRST SEMIFINAL OF CENTRAL REGION PLAYOFFS
Sioux Falls City FC and FC Pride will face each other in the highly anticipated Central Region Semifinal match Saturday, July 13 to determine who will move on in the tournament.
Sioux Falls looks to continue its dominant run after nine wins and zero losses during the regular season. Sioux Falls scored 32 goals over nine games, eight of which came from striker Katharina Oelschlaeger, who was nominated for Player of the Week (POTW) in Week 7. Sioux Falls finished first in the Northern Conference after beating Salvo SC.
FC Pride will won the Midwest Conference when they defeated FC Milwaukee Torrent in the championship game, making the Pride the Midwest Conference Champions for the WPSL postseason.
The Pride finished its regular season with six wins and 30 goals scored. The Pride’s leading goal scorer, Kayla Budish contributed heavily to its impressive offense, making it a threat to the undefeated Sioux Falls. Budish was nominated for the WPSL POTW in Week 5 after scoring four goals over a two game period. Budish finished third in the player statistics behind Peyton Kohls (FC Dayton) and Emily Gaebe (Lou Fusz Athletic).
Fans will be able to attend the Semifinal at Bob Young Field in Sioux Falls, SD. The match will be live streamed on WPSL TV.
The winner of this match will face the winner between Colorado Pride and Union KC on Sunday to determine the Central Region champion. The region champions will compete for the WPSL Championship the following weekend in Stillwater, OK.
