Trust.

That was the glue that held MISS KICK FC together all season. Trust in each other. Trust in the coaches. Trust in the objective and the gameplan to achieve it.

And it worked.

MISS KICK FC produced its best regular season record (6-1-1) since joining the WPSL in 2022 enroute to its first Coastal Division title. Additionally, MISS KICK takes the momentum of a four-game winning streak into the conference championship on Wednesday with hosting rights. Though, to this team, it’s going to take more than momentum to claim the SoCal Conference and punch its ticket to the West Region Playoffs.

“We have a tremendous amount of respect for every opponent we face, and we know momentum doesn't guarantee anything,” Madison Beckley, MISS KICK FC owner operator, said. “What gives us confidence is that we've built a group that competes for each other, embraces difficult moments, and stays committed.”

The team faced its first difficulty in Week Two when it fell to FC Premier, 2-1, in its second game of the season. Despite conceding two goals in 10 minutes during the first half, MISS KICK FC continued to fight and found the back of the net in the 92nd minute.

Coming off a bye week, the team continued to face adversity in Week Four. This time earning results in their favor. In its first of two games on the week, MISS KICK FC went down two goals again in the first half before scoring three within 10 minutes to capture all three points and the win. In the second game of the week, this team faced FC Premier again and found the back of the neck again in the 90+ stoppage time, this time to equalize.

“One of the biggest strengths of our team is the belief in one another. We've talked this season about controlling what we can control,” Beckley said. “This team doesn't fold when things get difficult, we've responded.  We understand what's important and it starts with the small things.”

That response was felt loud and clear across the division as MISS KICK FC increased confidence throughout its roster and supporters. MISS KICK FC went on to win its next four games, producing two shutouts, and scoring 10 goals while conceding just three. By the time the team headed into its final match of regular season, MISS KICK FC had propelled itself to a number one ranking as the best team in the West Region after Week Seven.

Winning its first Coastal Division title is an important milestone in MISS KICK FC’s history, and while the team views the accolade as validation, it also finds a new significance towards the honor.

“To win our first division title is a testament to the sacrifice, character, and belief in what we're building at MISS KICK FC. It's an incredibly proud moment because it's validation of everything this group has invested,” Beckley said. “It also means a great deal to our staff and supporters who have believed in our vision from the beginning. It's an important milestone, but we also view it as another step toward building something sustainable.”

MISS KICK FC faces its next test Wednesday in the SoCal Conference against So Cal Union FC, with a second playoff berth on the line. In 2022 MISS KICK entered the postseason as Coastal Division representatives finishing second in the division, five points out of first place.

“Winning a conference championship would certainly be special, but it would also reflect the resilience, professionalism, and belief this team has demonstrated throughout the season,” Beckley said. “Earning another playoff opportunity would allow us to continue representing Orange County and showing what MISS KICK FC is all about on a bigger stage.”
