ROOTS PLANTED IN TALENT-LADEN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MARKET BEAR FRUIT WITH ADDITION OF SAINTS SOCCER FOR 2027 WPSL SEASON

‍

OKLAHOMA CITY (November 6, 2026) — Growth in the Women’s Premier Soccer League continues with the addition of San Diego County-based Saints Soccer, which will join the highly competitive Southern California market for 2027 season.

‍

“For nearly three decades, the WPSL has provided an elite playing platform for female soccer players to play at a high level and advance their careers,” Scott Alexander, Saints Soccer executive director, said. “Saints Soccer is honored to be joining the WPSL, providing prestigious playing opportunities for the top female players in San Diego County.”

‍

Established in 2025, Saints Soccer began as a grassroots program for youth players offering camps, clinics, small group training sessions, and youth competitive teams. Growth within the community has enabled Saints Soccer to launch a women’s program, which will make its debut in the 2027 WPSL season. The establishment of its women’s first team will further the club’s mission of elevating women’s soccer in San Diego County by providing an elite competitive platform for local female athletes to advance their careers at local, regional, and national levels.

‍

Saints Soccer will parlay its position in the WPSL to further the club’s investment in the community by heading camps, clinics, and donation drives for local organizations, with the goal of providing a framework that connects the club’s first team players with the female youth soccer community through grassroots initiatives including seasonal programs, camps, and clinics.

‍

“Our entry into the WPSL will provide a platform to connect with our grassroots players, enhancing female youth soccer throughout San Diego County,” Alexander said.

‍

As founder and executive director, Alexander brings more than two decades of playing and coaching experience across elite youth, collegiate levels, and in the WPSL with the Diablo Valley Wolves in 2021. Technical and front office positions will be announced in the upcoming months.

‍

The 29th WPSL season runs from mid-May through mid-July. The league’s official national alignment will be announced at the WPSL Annual General Meeting at the beginning of the new year. The full 2027 WPSL schedule will be announced in March.
