LEGACY CLUB SAN FRANCISCO GLENS MAKE JUMP TO WPSL

OKLAHOMA CITY (February 19, 2026) — The Women’s Premier Soccer League is thrilled to announce the addition of the storied club, San Francisco Glens SC, for the 2026 WPSL season. With the announcement, the Glens become the second San Francisco-based WPSL club this season, joining WPSL founding club San Francisco Nighthawks in the NorCal Conference’s Central Valley Division.

“Our realignment of the club’s senior female platform through the WPSL creates a stronger, more connected pathway for players in our girl’s academy, rooted in a true development-first approach, Mike McNeill, San Francisco Glens SC executive director, said.

Dating back to 1961, San Francisco Glens SC was established by Irish immigrants, rising to prominence in San Francisco Soccer Football League, which is now the oldest adult soccer league in the United States. Today, the Glens is one of the largest clubs in San Francisco fielding youth to pre-professional adult teams designed to provide pathways to the next level. The club’s alumnae include current NWSL players Nadia Gomes and Elise Evans of the Chicago Stars FC and Karile Lema of Bay FC. The first Glens women’s side took the field in 2023, advancing to the USLW national semifinals the club’s inaugural year.

“This move [to the WPSL] allows us to better support our athletes’ long-term growth, from youth to pre-professional and college levels,” McNeill said.

The San Francisco Glens will play its inaugural WPSL season as a member of the NorCal Conference in the seven-team Central Valley Division. The NorCal Conference winner will receive a berth into the West Region playoffs.

The 28th WPSL season kicks off May 4, culminating with the WPSL Championships July 17-19. The full WPSL schedule will be announced March 17.
