TRENTON, N.J. (June 9th, 2026) — Love City FC hit the road to Mercer County Community College to compete against Real Central NJ for their first away game of the season with one
thing in mind—keep the win streak alive.
With Juelle Love on the ball early on, Love City FC put themselves in a dangerous position. As Love raced down the sideline, she found Jessica Castorina who dished to Taylor Troutman making a run on the outside. Troutman’s shot towards the back post takes a deflection of Real for Love City FC’s first corner.
Troutman served the ball into the six-yard box where Reese Power scored her first goal of the season past goalkeeper Makenzie Van Arsdale.
Real Central forward Aditi Singh responded quickly, finding Morgan Kotch, but it is called offside. Ten minutes later Real played a through ball for Singh to run onto, but her run was cut short by Love City FC defender Reese Power with a critical slide tackle.
Love City FC goalkeeper Laura Shea made her first save of the game off in the 23rd minute off a Real Central corner. Shea was a key player for Love City FC, as she prevented Real from capitalizing on their consistent through balls.
In the last few minutes of the first half, City’s top goal scorer Nicole Sweeney was fouled in the box. With composure, Sweeney scored her fourth goal of the season and put Love City up 2-0 before the second half.
As the sun set, and the lights turned on, the second half began. Love City put themselves in Real’s defensive half early on with a shot from Castorina towards the top corner forcing goalkeeper Arsdale to make a big save.
As the 54th minute approached Real Central NJ put Love City under pressure in their own box. Real forward Bella Miller dribbled towards the six, Reese Power went down as a final attempt to stop Miller, and a foul was called — penalty kick.
Morgan Kotch took the penalty, and scored, making it 2-1 with a little over 30 minutes to play.
Fast forward to the 86th minute with a service from Real Central into Shea’s box. Forward Katherine Surdykowski headed the ball towards Shea, who maintained possession and kept Love City FC’s win streak alive.
Love City FC's win streak lives to see another day, and for the first time in club history they are ranked number 14 in the WPSL East Power Ranking.
