LANCASTER, Pa. — New York Athletic Club advanced to the East Region Final Sunday with a 3-1 win over CT Rush at Lancaster Bible College. Kayla Wong tallied a brace, and Victoria Vinals added a goal for the NYAC. Ari Mullin scored for CT Rush.
The torrential downpour at kickoff did little to slow the Metropolitan Conference winners. Wong made it 1-0 in just the third minute. Vinals made it 2-0 with a penalty kick six minutes later before Wong picked up her second of the game in the 23rd minute.
NYAC goalkeeper Tatiana Saunders was robbed of her shutout by Mullin in the 90th minute.
The win moved NYAC to 8-0-1 on the season. This is NYAC’s fourth East Region Playoffs appearance and first since 2016.
CT Rush, winners of the Northeastern Conference, finished its season 6-2-1.
With the win, New York Athletic Club advances to the regional final at Lancaster Bible College to face Columbus Eagles FC Sunday evening. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT.
