LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. (June 11, 2026) - Oklahoma City FC saw its 16-match WPSL regular season unbeaten streak come to an end Wednesday night as Union KC claimed a 2-0 victory at Paragon Star Sports Complex, tightening the Heartland Division title race.
The loss dropped the ScissorTails to 5-1-0 on the season, while Union KC improved to 3-1-1 and moved firmly into contention alongside Kansas City Current II (3-0-2).
Oklahoma City FC’s unbeaten run spanned 711 days – a stretch that began and ended against the same opponent at the same venue. The ScissorTails previous regular season loss was a 1-0 setback at Union KC on June 29, 2024. It also marked the first time Oklahoma City FC had been held scoreless in a defeat since that match.
The winner of the Heartland Division will advance to face the Gateway Division champion for the Midwest Conference Championship, with the victor earning a berth in the WPSL Playoffs.
Union KC struck first just six minutes into the match when Izzy Ross headed home a corner kick from Brooklyn Marn and carried a 1-0 lead into halftime.
After struggling the establish possession during the first 45 minutes, Oklahoma City FC responded with greater urgency after halftime. OKC FC spent extended stretches in the attacking half but were unable to find the final touch needed to break down Union KC’s defense and create quality scoring chances.
Union KC added an insurance goal with nine minutes remaining when Emery Ruliffson one-timed a right-footed drive from 18 yards out inside the near post to seal the 2-0 victory.
Goalkeeper Callie Sullivan played all 90 minutes and suffered her first loss in six appearances this season.
Oklahoma City FC entered the match averaging 3.2 goals per game and had scored eight goals across its previous two contests. But the ScissorTails struggled to generate consistent pressure on Union KC’s back line and were unable to break through offensively and test the opponent’s goalkeeper.
Oklahoma City FC concludes its three-match road swing June 18 when it travels the turnpike to face Side FC 92 Tulsa for a 6 p.m. kickoff. The ScissorTails won the first of two meetings between the in-state rivals, 1-0 on May 30 in Mustang.
