PENNSYLVANIA CLASSICS ADVANCES TO SECOND REGIONAL FINAL WITH WIN OVER COLUMBUS

LANCASTER, Pa. — Liza Suydam, Isabel Coy, and Maggie Groh scored goals as Pennsylvania Classics beat Columbus Eagles FC 3-1 in the second East Region Playoffs semifinal of the night at Lancaster Bible College.

With the win, the Mid-Atlantic Conference champions advance to the East Region Playoffs final Sunday at 1 p.m. EDT.

Saturday’s semifinal win keeps Pennsylvania Classics unbeaten at 9-1-0 on the season as it looks to advance to the WPSL Championships for the first time in its four-season WPSL tenure.

Last year, Pennsylvania Classics fell to eventual WPSL champions, Sporting CT in the East Region Final.

After a scoreless first half, Suydam put Classics in the lead in the 53rd minute. Coy doubled Classics’ lead in the 67th minute, and Groh made it 3-0 with five minutes left in the match.

A minute after Groh’s goal, Cecilla Dapino pulled one back for Columbus, to end the game 3-1. Columbus finished the season 6-0-3.
