Spokane Returns to West Region Final Off Six-Goal Win

SPOKANE RETURNS TO WEST REGION FINAL OFF SIX-GOAL WIN

DAVIS, Calif. — Spokane Shadow advanced to the West Region Final for the second time in club history with a 6-0 win over San Francisco Nighthawks at Davis Legacy Soccer Complex in Davis, Calif.

Spokane’s Delani Walker had a hat trick, and Georgia Whitehead, Makenna Stuart, and Quinn Mueller added goals for the Shadow over the Central Valley Division winners. Goalkeeper Aliana Vakaloloma earned the clean sheet in goal for Spokane.

The win moved Spokane to 6-0-1 on the season. San Francisco finished its 28^th WPSL season 5-1-4 with the loss.

‍

With temperatures hovering around 90 degrees at the 4 p.m. kickoff, it was not until the second half, as temperatures began to cool, that the action picked up.

‍

After a scoreless first half, Mueller broke the deadlock in the 48^th minute, followed by Stuart two minutes later to make it 2-0. Walker made it 3-0 with the first of her three goals in the 60^th minute, with Whitehead making it 4-0 four minutes later. Walker all but sealed the game with her second goal in the 68^th minute to make it 5-0 before getting her hat trick with the final goal of the match four minutes from full time.

Goalkeeper Aliana Vakaloloma earned the clean sheet in goal for Spokane.

With the win, Spokane will take on California Storm Sunday at Davis Legacy Soccer Complex for the regional title. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. PDT.
