SC del Sol (1-0-0) vs. Royals AZ (0-0-0)
Mountain West Conference – Desert Division
The top two Desert Division teams in 2025 clash on Thursday when SC del Sol hosts reigning division champions, Royals AZ at Reach 11 Sports Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST.
This has become one of the fiercest rivalries in the entire WPSL since Royals AZ joined the league in 2023. Last year, Royals AZ edged SC del Sol by a single point in the standings, going 6-1-1. Going 6-0-2, both of SC del Sol’s losses came at the hands of Royals AZ: 5-3 in week four and 5-1 in the return match a week later. The two sides were one-two in the conference in goals scored. Royals AZ tallied 37 over the club’s eight-game schedule, while SC del Sol had 33 on the season. Royals AZ’s Larkin Thomason and SC del Sol’s Farrah Walters tied in the golden boot race with 11 goals each. SC del Sol enters the match with a game under its belt: a 7-1 win over FC Tucson last Wednesday. Jessica Bedolla and Valerie Llamas had hattricks, and Camille Kayyem added a goal in the win. The two clubs face off again June 7.

St. Croix took the series between the two clubs in 2025, winning a 4-3 thriller to open the season that saw two lead changes and Joy A.C. level the score at three with nine minutes to play before Tatum Trettle scored her second goal of the match to give St. Croix the win with two minutes to play. St. Croix won 4-0 in the return match in Week Eight. Trettel led the club with seven goals on the season, followed by Mara Smith. Joy A.C. finished 1-1-6 in 2025 Land of Lakes Division play. Brook Nast led the club in scoring with two goals—including the opening goal last year in Joy’s heartbreaking season opener at St. Croix.
