The unbeaten Salvo is still catching its breath after going 3-0-0 in a frenetic Week Six that included a 2-1 home win over its bitterest Northern Conference rival. After picking up shutout wins over MN Bliss FC and Joy AC in Week Five, Salvo entered the make-or-break Week Six with a 4-1 midweek win over Mankato United Soccer club before its Saturday clash with Minnesota Thunder Saturday at University of Northwestern St. Paul. Davy Mokelke put the hosts up 1-0 in the 28th minute, and 2-0 in the 32nd minute. Greta Chmura pulled one back for Minnesota Thunder in the 57th minute but could not find an equalizer. Salvo was in action again 24 hours later, earning a 3-0 road win at Manitou F.C. Minnesota Thunder kicked off its 2026 season with a pair of Week Five shutout wins over Joy AC and MN Bliss FC, followed by a 3-1 midweek win at St. Croix Legacy last week before the loss at Slavo Saturday. Minnesota has a chance to recalibrate as it looks to unseat Salvo from the top spot in the conference when it faces Manitou F.C. (1-0-3) on Tuesday before Saturday’s rematch. The two clubs split the series last year with the away side winning in both matches: Salvo ran roughshod over the Thunder 6-1 in the first meeting followed by a 2-1 Minnesota Thunder win three days later.
