Frequently Asked Questions

What is the WPSL? The Women’s Premier Soccer League is the largest women’s soccer league in the world with 106 teams from coast-to-coast in the United States (and one in Canada).  WPSL rosters feature players from colleges and universities, former collegiate players and top prep players from respective regions.  Many of the top players from the U.S. National Team have played in the WPSL, including Alex Morgan, Abby Wambach, Megan Rapinoe, Julie Foudy and Brandi Chastain.

 

 

What is the basic format for the Combine?

  • Registration
  • On-field Training Sessions
  • Matches
  • Classroom Breakout Sessions

Note: Outdoor training sessions & the number of matches played will be subject to weather conditions.

 

 

Can players not on WPSL Teams participate in the Combine? No but the WPSL League Office has the option to open up a select-number of roster spots to players unattached to current WPSL clubs as the event approaches. Space will be limited.

 

 

How many available spots will there be in the Combine? The combine will be limited to 200 players.

 

How many players from each team can participate in the Combine? Unlimited

 

Deadline to Register is? July 15 at 12:00 p.m. EST or when Combine reaches 200 maximum capacity, whichever occurs first. Register here!

 

How much is Registration and are refunds granted? The Player Registration Fee is $125 per players and amount is non-refundable.

 

NOTE: If a player is registered for the Combine and her WPSL team is one of four teams that qualify for the 2019 WPSL Championship on July 19 and 21, she will receive a full refund.

 

 

Can I pay cash when I arrive in person at the Combine? No.  All payments must be remitted in advance online in accordance with the deadlines and payment methods set forth.

 

 

I still have college eligibility remaining, should I still attend Combine? Being part of the Combine will not impact your college eligibility.  However, it is highly recommended student-athletes wishing to attend the 2019 WPSL International Combine should check with their respective college or university’s compliance officer and/or coaching staff to make sure that their appearance will not impact their college eligibility. 

 

NOTE: The WPSL does not assume responsibility regarding a player’s amateur status.

 

 

Are there age restrictions on participating in the Combine? We accept player’s age 18-and-over.  Players born prior to July 20, 2000 will not be able to Register via the Official WPSL Registration Software.

 

 

When should I arrive to Stillwater and plan on departing? Player Registration is on Thursday 5-7PM and on Friday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to Noon. Our 1st training session is scheduled for 1 p.m.  The final training session is scheduled to conclude around 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 21.

 

 

What about travel costs? The player is responsible for all costs related to her travel, including air, ground transportation, lodging and meals.  Players flying should book flights thru Stillwater Regional Airport or plan to commute from Will Rodgers Airport in Oklahoma City or Tulsa International Airport.

 

 

Is there a Host Hotel for the Combine? Oklahoma State University will serve as the host housing property. Rates are as follows:

-Thursday Check-in with a Sunday Check-out is $120

-Friday Check-in with a Sunday Check-out is $80

 

Do I have to stay at the Host Hotel? No, but it is recommended as many Combine events will scheduled at the campus of Oklahoma State University (OSU).  We also believe you will find the rates established are very reasonable, and it will be easier to find ground transportation assistance to and from the soccer fields.

If you choose to to stay off campus, Stillwater has a number of local hotels available.  

 

 

Can I share a room with another player? More information on this forthcoming. Combine associates will do their best to assist you.

 

 

Can I bring a family member / friend to stay with me in the hotel? Yes, all hotel expenses are the responsibility of the player.

 

 

Ground Transportation? Players are responsible for their own ground transportation throughout their stay.  

 

What soccer gear will be provided and what do I need to bring? Each player will be provided a 2019 WPSL International Combine Kit (jersey, shorts and socks).  The color scheme of the kit provided will be white and silver.  Players need to bring Black Soccer Shorts & Black Socks.  The players are also responsible for providing their own cleats, shin guards and all associated apparel needed for training sessions and scheduled matches.  Each combine participant will be provided an adhesive combine number to be applied to the bib assigned for selected training sessions and matches.

 

 

Will I be able to wash my clothes at the Host Hotel? Yes, the Host Hotel will have washers and driers onsite available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Laundry supplies are NOT provided.

 

 

How much time will I receive in front of Teams and Scouts? All players will receive ample playing time in matches and structured training sessions, all of which will be attended by professional Scouts and Technical Staff Members (weather permitting).  There will also be separate technical sessions and fitness testing as well.

 

 

What Teams will be present at the Combine? The WPSL is still in the process of confirming attendance of individuals representing a number of elite clubs across Europe.  At press time, the league has commitments from technical advisors with ties to Hellas-Verona (Italy), Pink Bari (Italy), A.C. Perugia Calcio (Italy), Getafe (Spain), Leganes (Spain), Real Aviles (Spain), Compostela (Spain), A.D. Alcorcon (Spain) and dozens of others that will be updated as the Combine nears.

 

NOTE: The WPSL will provide a detailed listing of teams with representation upon your arrival.

 

 

Will there be Pro Agents at the Combine? Possibly.  The WPSL has NOT invited Pro Agents to attend the Combine, yet we understand we cannot control 100% of the grounds and its premises.  We highly encourage amateur student-athletes to refrain from formal communication with pro agents of any kind. 

 

 

 

Will the Combine provide on-site Medical Services? There will be Certified Athletic Trainers on-site to tend to soccer-related injuries.  We encourage players to bring their own tape and supplies, but trainers will be available to assist and have extra supplies for those in need.  The WPSL will also have access to an elite Sports Medicine Team, including an Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in sports injuries.  The OSU-Colvin Center is also equipped with a state-of-the-art fitness center equipped with the latest modern equipment for your needs.  There is also a warm-up track outside of the fitness area and grass fields that will be set up exclusively for the use of Combine participants only.

 

 

Will Combine Players be able to attend the 2019 WPSL Championship Semifinals and Finals? Yes.  Each player will receive a free ticket to the WPSL Semifinals on July 19 and Finals on July 21. Attendance by Combine athletes to support your peers is highly encouraged.
