DECATUR FC CLINCHES PEACHTREE DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP WITH BREAKTHROUGH SEASON

A massive crowd witnessed DECATUR FC capture its first Peachtree Division title Friday night with the club’s 2-0 win over Georgia Impact with one game remaining in the regular season. In just its second year in the WPSL, DECATUR has quickly become one of the flagship clubs of the league, both on and off the field.

“It really shows how much hard work everyone has put in, from the players and coaches on the field to the staff working behind the scenes,” Joel Gould, DECATUR FC general manager, said. “Our players have stayed focused and committed, always pushing to perform at their best. It’s been a real team effort and seeing it all pay off like this means a lot to everyone involved.”

DECATUR  is expecting to break yet another team attendance record as it looks to go a perfect 8-0-0 when it closes out its season Friday, June 27 versus second-place Chattanooga FC. Chattanooga enters the contest 4-1-1, eight points behind DECATUR. DECATUR won the first meeting between the two clubs 2-1 at Chattanooga.

“We had roughly two weeks of practice before the season kicked off, so getting all the players to gel that quickly—and then achieve success right out of the gate—is a real testament to the talent Coach Campbell and his staff have brought together,” Gould said.

DECATUR leads the Peachtree Division in offensive statistics with 23 goals— 11 more than No. 2, Chattanooga. Maggie Wasdworth (Mississippi State University 2022- ) leads the club with six goals, followed by Dylan Driver (Auburn University 2022- ) with four and Sarah Greiner (University of Miami 2023- ) with four goals.

On the defensive side, DECATUR is second in the division having conceded seven goals on the season. Nicole Bidun (University of Georgia 2024- ) started in every game for Decatur so far this season, posting an impressive 1.0 goal against average to date.
